Meet our Veterinarians!

Dr. Martha Zimmerman

Originally from Peoria, Illinois, Dr. Martha Zimmerman graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She began her veterinary career practicing in Charlotte, NC, and Salisbury, MD, before expanding her family by adopting three children from Russia between 1999 and 2005. In 2007, Dr. Zimmerman relocated to Florida, where she worked with Animal Services, focusing on cruelty investigations and performing surgeries on the Neuter Commuter. She joined the Humane Society of Marion County in 2021, where she continues to dedicate her skills and compassion to animals in need. When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Zimmerman enjoys snuggling her three Chiweenies, spoiling her five grandchildren, and rescuing clearance plants from Lowe’s like a true plant hero.
