Humane Education Program
At the Humane Society of Marion County, our Humane Education Program is dedicated to fostering compassion, responsibility, and respect for animals through education. By engaging with children, teens, and community members, we aim to create a future where every animal is treated with kindness and care.
Get Involved
We welcome schools, youth groups, and families to partner with us in promoting humane education. If you are interested in scheduling a visit, organizing a field trip, or learning more about our programs, please contact Ashley Ryan at [email protected].
Join us in making a difference—educating today for a more compassionate tomorrow!
Our camps provide a fun and educational environment where kids learn about animals through hands-on activities, guest speakers, and special projects. These camps help nurture the next generation of animal advocates.
This special literacy program allows children to practice their reading skills by reading to shelter pets. This calming experience helps both the children and the animals, promoting confidence in young readers while providing companionship to our furry friends.
Children under 14 who want to get involved can participate in service projects such as: Organizing supply drives for shelter animals, creating homemade pet toys and treats, fundraising to support our mission
Students and community groups are welcome to visit our shelter for a behind-the-scenes look at animal care and rescue operations. These tours offer a hands-on learning experience and inspire a love for animals.
Designed to introduce children and community members to the joy of feline companionship, this program encourages safe and positive interactions with shelter pets. Participants learn about pet care, body language, and how to responsibly meet new furry friends.
We offer engaging and interactive presentations for schools, covering topics such as responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and careers in animal care. These visits help students develop empathy and awareness for animals in their community.
