Building confidence in young readers — one shelter dog at a time.
About the Program
ALL children are invited to read to a Humane Society of Marion County dog on select Saturday mornings at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. — open to grades 1 through 5.
- The child must register in advance.
- Choose the dates you prefer. If the date is available to select, your child will be accepted into the class.
- There is a maximum of 12 children per session.
- A parent/guardian must accompany the child and stay at the shelter (in a separate area) while the child reads. Children do better when reading to a non-judgmental dog with no outside criticism.
- Please sign up each child individually.
Private Sessions Available
We are now offering a private Doggone Good Reading Class to your group for $75. If you're interested, don't hesitate to get in touch with Aimee at [email protected].
