Join us for the second annual Soggy Doggy Swim at Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center on March 22nd! Small dogs are from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the larger dogs swim time is from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Cost is $10 per dog, and you must bring proof of current rabies, DHLP and Bordetella vaccinations. Spots are limited so be sure to register soon! We will be at Yard Stop March 28th and 29th for an Adoption Event! The Yard Stop Stop will have food, refreshments, and animals available for adoption. We will be there from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM!
Come out for excitement and fun for the whole family at Marion County Day on March 29th at the McPherson Complex! Help us celebrate Marion County's 180-year history from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There will be a kid's zone including a bounce house and petting zoo, food trucks, live music, local arts and crafts, and tons of vendors! Admission is Free.
Thursday, April 3rd we will be having a dine and donate with Red Robin of Ocala! 20% of all food sales will be donated to the Humane Society. Please mention "Humane Society of Marion County" when ordering!
We have two programs for children, Doggone Good Reading and Meeting New Furr-ends that are hosted one to two Saturdays a month. Next Saturday, April 5th, is FREE First Saturday at the Appleton Museum of Art! Free admission all day, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. We will be bringing animals for adoption! Besides April 5th, we will be at the Appleton April on May 3rd and June 7th.

Meet Jasper, a sweet 7-month-old boy who is in desperate need of surgery. Jasper came to the Humane Society in January after being treated at UF Veterinary Hospital. We suspect due to the nature of his injuries that he was hit by a vehicle. Jasper not only had an injury to his right front leg, but his right hind leg. Our medical staff determined that Jasper is in need of a FHO surgery; Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) is a surgical procedure used to treat hip pain and mobility issues in dogs. Due to the extent of this surgery, we would need to source outside of the Humane Society to complete this surgery. All money raised would assist in the cost of Jasper's surgery. Currently, Jasper is on anti-inflammatory and pain medication; Jasper will need surgery soon in order to recover with ease.

Our March Staff Member Spotlight is our wonderful Lead Veterinarian Technician, Bohdania! Bohdania was born in Ukraine and raised in New Jersey. She started her Veterinarian Technician career at a small animal hospital in the Virgin Islands. She knew she wanted to make a difference for animals since she was a child. We are so grateful to have Bohdania on our team, her dedication to the animals allows our shelter to make a difference in the community. Thank you for being a part of the HSMC Team!
