Short-Term Volunteer Program

A meaningful way to support HSMC while maintaining a flexible, short-term commitment.

About This Program

Our Short-Term Volunteer Program is ideal for individuals who want to volunteer once or for less than six months. This is a quick-start program located at our Thrift Store, with minimal onboarding, designed for those looking to earn community service or volunteer hours for school, work, or service projects.

Please note: This program does not include animal access. Because there is no formal orientation or hands-on animal training, short-term volunteers will assist with non-animal-related tasks only. Signing up for this program does not approve you to work at the shelter.

Important: This program does not qualify for court-ordered community service, PTI programs, or any volunteer hours required due to civil or criminal activity. We are unable to accept participants in this program needing hours for these purposes. Please read more here about our court-ordered program.

Scheduling

Short-term volunteers enjoy a completely free schedule — come as often as you like within posted store hours for your area. There are no set shifts or required days.

Volunteer hours follow Thrift Store operating hours.
